Do hazardous waste controls apply to your business?

Your business is likely to produce some hazardous waste, even if you do not produce hazardous waste through industrial activities. For example, many businesses will have waste fluorescent light bulbs and computer monitors.

You must ensure that your hazardous waste is dealt with appropriately. There are special provisions for:

  • domestic waste (including asbestos waste)
  • used explosives
  • mineral wastes from mining and quarrying activities
  • most radioactive wastes.

If you are unsure whether hazardous waste controls apply to you, contact your environmental regulator.
