Conservation Legislation
Although previous Acts of Parliament include provisions for nature conservation, the main piece of legislation relating to nature conservation in Great Britain is the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. This Act is supplemented by the Conservation (Natural Habitats, &c.) Regulations 1994 (as amended), and the Countryside and Rights of Way (CRoW) Act 2000.
Due to the extent of this topic and the fact that it is not regulated by the Environmental Regulators, the list of legislation that follows is not exhaustive. It includes only the main pieces of legislation. For a more complete picture, please contact the UK Government Conservation Bodies.
